Choosing a trim size
Pick the trim size before you format: the gutter depends on page count, and the page count depends on trim size. Smaller trims mean more pages, a wider spine and a higher printing cost per book — run the numbers in the royalty calculator.
Exported at the wrong size? KDP rejects a PDF whose pages don’t match the trim you selected. Our free check catches it, and the fix rebuilds every page at the exact trim size with the content scaled uniformly — useful for A4 or US Letter manuscripts going to 6 × 9 in, as long as the text doesn’t get too small.

What trim sizes does KDP offer for paperbacks?
Sixteen: 5 × 8, 5.06 × 7.81, 5.25 × 8, 5.5 × 8.5, 6 × 9, 6.14 × 9.21, 6.69 × 9.61, 7 × 10, 7.44 × 9.69, 7.5 × 9.25, 8 × 10, 8.25 × 6, 8.25 × 8.25, 8.5 × 8.5, 8.5 × 11 in and A4 (8.27 × 11.69 in).

Any size wider than 6.12 in or taller than 9 in. Large trims cost more to print and some have lower maximum page counts.

Between 24 and 828 pages for black ink on white paper at most sizes. Cream paper tops out at 776, standard color at 600 (from a 72-page minimum), and 8.5 × 8.5 and 8.5 × 11 in at 590 on white paper.
Can I change the trim size after publishing?
Not on a live paperback: trim size is locked once the book is published, so you would publish a new edition. Pick it before you format the interior.
How many pixels is a 6 × 9 page at 300 DPI?
1800 × 2700 px without bleed, or 1838 × 2775 px with 0.125 in bleed on the top, bottom and outside edge.
